Applications are now open for the 2026 ICC-ITC-WTO MSME Group Small Business Champions Competition, an annual global competition that supports innovative solutions that help micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) participate more effectively in international trade.
Launched in 2021 by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the WTO Informal Working Group on MSMEs, the competition invites businesses, industry associations, chambers of commerce, and non-governmental organisations to propose practical, scalable solutions that strengthen the role of small businesses in global markets.
2026 Theme: Supporting Small Businesses to Use AI for International Trade
The 2026 edition focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) and its growing impact on international trade. AI technologies are transforming how MSMEs operate by improving supply-chain efficiency, reducing transaction costs, enhancing regulatory compliance, and providing real-time market insights.
This year’s competition seeks proposals that leverage AI-driven tools and models to help MSMEs overcome trade barriers and compete globally. Priority will be given to initiatives that combine innovation with practicality and demonstrate clear benefits for small businesses engaged in cross-border trade.
