Young Africans and refugees seeking fully funded postgraduate study opportunities can now apply for the American University of Beirut (AUB) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2026/2027. The program provides full financial support for Master’s and PhD degrees, including selected online graduate programs, at one of the Middle East’s leading universities.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at AUB is designed to develop ethical, transformative leaders who are committed to giving back to their communities. Beyond academic training, scholars participate in leadership development, community engagement, fieldwork, and capacity-building workshops.
Application Deadlines
- On-campus Master’s & PhD programs: March 12, 2026
- Online Graduate Programs: May 18, 2026
Who Can Apply
On-Campus Master’s Programs (Thesis & Non-Thesis)
Eligible applicants include:
- Citizens of African countries
- Lebanese citizens
- Refugees living in Lebanon or Africa
PhD Programs
Open to:
- Citizens of African countries
- Refugees residing on the African continent
Online Graduate Programs Available
The scholarship also supports the following online Master’s programs for Fall admission:
- Master’s in Engineering Management (Online)
- Master’s in Computing in Education (Online)
- Master’s in Business Administration (Online)
- Master’s in Nursing Administration and Management (Online)
- Executive Master’s in Healthcare Leadership (Online)
Each program may have additional admission requirements, so applicants are advised to review the individual program pages carefully.
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Have a strong academic record in their previous degree
- Demonstrate financial need
- Show leadership potential and commitment to community service
- Be willing to participate in required workshops and learning activities
- Demonstrate readiness for university studies in English (RUSE)

- Duolingo English Test (DET)
RUSE deadlines:
- On-campus programs: May 31, 2026
- Online programs: June 30, 2026

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at AUB is fully funded, covering:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Living expenses
- Leadership and professional development activities
- Academic support and mentoring
How to Apply
On-Campus Master’s & PhD Programs
- Complete the AUB online graduate application and upload all required documents by the deadline.
- Select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program under the Financial Opportunities section.
- (Not required for PhD applicants) Complete the AUB Financial Aid Application, accessible after submitting the graduate application.
Important: Applications are only considered complete after submitting both the graduate application and the financial aid application.
Online Graduate Programs
- Complete the AUB online graduate application by May 18, 2026.
- Submit RUSE scores by June 30, 2026.
