Commonwealth Shared Scholarships

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for Students from Developing Countries

Deadline: 9th April, 2021

Apply for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for students from developing countries and middle-income commonwealth countries. The scholarship is for a full-time Master’s study on selected courses, jointly supported by UK Universities.

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is one of the largest and most prestigious international scholarship schemes in the world. Since it was established in 1959, over 30,000 individuals have held a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship – 28,500 of them were funded by the UK government, through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC).

The CSC awards around 700 scholarships and fellowships for postgraduate study and professional development to Commonwealth citizens each year.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are for candidates from least developed and lower middle income Commonwealth countries, for full-time Master’s study on selected courses, jointly supported by UK universities.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Commonwealth Shared Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.

These scholarships are offered under six CSC development themes:

1.  Science and technology for development
2.  Strengthening health systems and capacity
3.  Promoting global prosperity
4.  Strengthening global peace, security and governance
5.  Strengthening resilience and response to crises
