Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Embassy of France in Nigeria English Language Assistants Program, an exciting international opportunity for young Nigerians to gain seven months of paid work experience in France.
The program, officially known as the ALVE (Assistants de Langue Vivante Étrangère) Programme and managed by France Éducation International, allows selected candidates to work as English Language Assistants in French educational institutions while experiencing French culture and improving their language skills.
About the English Language Assistants Program
The English Language Assistants Program places young graduates in primary and secondary schools across France, where they support English language teaching under the supervision of French teachers.
Participants work part-time, leaving ample time to explore France, improve their French, and gain valuable international professional experience. The program runs for seven months, typically from October to April.
Salary and Benefits
Selected English Language Assistants will receive:
- Monthly salary of approximately €813
- 7 months of paid international work experience
- Opportunity to live and work legally in France
- Immersion in French culture and the education system
- Professional experience is valuable for careers in education, international relations, and language studies
Note: Assistants are responsible for their flight ticket and initial living expenses before receiving their first salary.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the 2026/2027 English Language Assistants Program, applicants must:
- Be a Nigerian citizen (permanent residents are not eligible)
- Be between 20 and 30 years old by the start of the mission
- Have completed secondary education in Nigeria
- Have completed at least four years of university studies at the time of application
- Be native English speakers
- Possess a minimum B1 level in French (DELF or DALF certificates required)
- Have experience in teaching or volunteering in educational projects (highly valued)
- Preferably be single, as the salary may not support dependents
- Be able to show proof of sufficient funds to cover flight costs and first-month expenses
- Select one of the ten Alliances Françaises or the Institut Français du Nigeria in the “Professeur Évaluateur” field during application
