Applications are now open for the 2026 Falling Walls Global International Competition, an international platform that identifies and showcases the year’s most groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs. Through its Global Call for Science Breakthroughs, Falling Walls brings together researchers, innovators, startups, and science communicators whose work addresses pressing global challenges.
The competition promotes dialogue around research and innovation while connecting science with society. Selected participants gain global exposure and the opportunity to present their work at one of the world’s leading science forums.

Applicants may submit projects under the following categories:

Research focused on living organisms, including biology, neuroscience, and zoology.
Physical Sciences
Scientific exploration of natural phenomena, including chemistry, physics, earth sciences, and astronomy.

Applied sciences and technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence, information technology, and mechanical engineering.

Research examining human society and behaviour, including economics, politics, philosophy, and sociology.

Artistic projects inspired by science that explore societal issues, scientific discoveries, and natural phenomena.
Science Start-ups (Falling Walls Venture)
Innovative start-ups translating scientific breakthroughs into scalable business models.
Science Engagement (Falling Walls Engage)
Participatory initiatives that foster mutual learning between science and society.
Women’s Impact Award (Female Science Talents)*
