Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarships for Global Professionals, a highly competitive fully funded scholarship for international students pursuing master’s level studies in Sweden.
The scholarship supports full-time, one- or two-year master’s programmes taught in English at Swedish universities. It is awarded to experienced professionals and emerging leaders from selected countries who demonstrate strong academic merit, leadership potential, and a commitment to contributing to sustainable development in their home countries.
Fields of study include, but are not limited to:
- Governance
- Public Health
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Scholarship recipients also become members of the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP), a global platform for leadership development, collaboration, and lifelong professional networking.
Eligibility Requirements
Country of Citizenship
Applicants must be citizens of a country eligible for the SI Scholarship. Applicants do not need to be residing in their country of citizenship at the time of application.
Eligible countries include:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia
Master’s Programme Eligibility
- Applicants must apply to master’s programmes that are eligible for the SI scholarship
- The official list of eligible programmes will be published in mid-November 2025
University Admission
Applicants must:
- Be required to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities
- Apply through University Admissions (universityadmissions.se)
- Be admitted to an eligible master’s programme at the time of admissions announcement
Work and Leadership Experience
- Applicants must demonstrate relevant professional work experience (requirements vary by region)
- Applicants must show leadership experience, either through employment or civil society engagement

Scholarship Benefits
The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals is fully funded and includes:
- Full tuition fee coverage, paid directly to the Swedish university each semester
- A monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000 throughout the study period
- A travel grant of SEK 15,000
- (SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine)
- Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP)
- Automatic membership in the Sweden Alumni Network after completing the scholarship, offering long-term networking and professional development opportunities
What the Scholarship Does NOT Cover
The scholarship does not:
- Include health or travel insurance (students should confirm coverage with their university)
- Provide financial support for family members
- Cover the University Admissions application fee
- Allow changes to the awarded study programme
- Allow extensions or changes to the scholarship period
Application Timeline
- 16 October 2025 – 15 January 2026: Apply to Swedish master’s programmes via University Admissions
- Mid-November 2025: SI publishes eligible programmes and scholarship documents
- 9 – 25 February 2026: SI scholarship application window opens
- 26 March 2026: University admissions results announced
- 23 April 2026: SI scholarship recipients announced
How to Apply
Applicants must first apply for eligible master’s programmes through University Admissions before submitting a separate application for the SI Scholarship during the scholarship application window.
