The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) invites talented international students from around the globe to apply for the UCAS Scholarship for International Students 2026. This program supports outstanding individuals seeking to pursue a Master’s or Doctoral degree, undertake academic research, or participate in joint study programs at UCAS colleges and CAS institutes.
The UCAS scholarship aims to nurture global scientific leaders by providing comprehensive support for postgraduate study and research in China. It offers both full and partial scholarships, covering tuition, accommodation, health insurance, stipends, and more. Applicants are encouraged to explore UCAS’s diverse academic programs and join one of the world’s top research institutions committed to innovation and international collaboration.
The Award
The UCAS Scholarship offers two categories of financial support: Full Scholarship and Partial Scholarship.
- Full Scholarship Benefits:
- Tuition Waiver:
- Doctoral students: RMB 40,000 per year
- Master’s students: RMB 30,000 per year
- Monthly Stipend:
- UCAS provides RMB 2,500 for Doctoral students and RMB 2,000 for Master’s students.
- Supervisors and host institutes may offer additional research assistantship allowances.
- Total monthly support will not be less than RMB 3,500 for PhD students and RMB 3,000 for Master’s students.
- Accommodation: Basic on-campus housing for students in Beijing.
- Support from host institutes for those based outside Beijing.
- Medical Insurance: Annual premium of RMB 800 is covered.
- Application Fee: Waiver of RMB 600 processing fee.
- Duration: Up to 36 months for both Master’s and Doctoral students (no extensions).
- Partial Scholarship Benefits:
- Covers tuition waiver, medical insurance, and application fee.
- Duration:
- Master’s and Doctoral students: up to 36 months.
- Visiting and joint program students: 6–24 months.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport, friendly toward China, and compliant with Chinese laws and UCAS regulations.
- Be proficient in English or Chinese.
- Age Requirements:
- – PhD applicants: born on or after January 1, 1991.
- – Master’s applicants: born on or after January 1, 1996.
- – Senior visiting students: born on or after January 1, 1981.
- – Regular visiting students: born on or after January 1, 1986.
- – Joint program applicants: no age limit.
- Meet the UCAS admission criteria for international students (see official program calls for 2026).
- Must not hold other full scholarships or academic assignments during the study period.
- Important Notes:
- Applicants currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at any university in China are not eligible for the corresponding UCAS scholarship program.
- Candidates may not apply under two supervisors simultaneously; doing so will result in disqualification.
Application Procedure
- Prepare Application Materials – Review the official 2026 Master’s/Doctoral and Visiting Student Programs for eligibility and required documents.
- Complete the Online Application – Submit all documents via the UCAS Online Admission System for International Students and select “UCAS Scholarship for International Students.”
- Application Deadline – For Master’s and Doctoral Programs: January 31, 2026 (Beijing Time). Senior and Regular Visiting Programs: No fixed deadline.
- Admission and Registration – Awardees must register at the time and place indicated in their Admission Notice; any delay requires approval.
- Compliance and Reviews – Recipients must follow UCAS regulations and attend required academic reviews. Unsatisfactory performance may lead to suspension.
- Research Acknowledgement – Publications produced during the scholarship period must credit UCAS and the host CAS institute with “Sponsored by UCAS Scholarship for International Students.”
