3,000 Fully Funded Agriculture Scholarships for Nigerian Youths

Are you passionate about agriculture but struggling to find the right training or support? The Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with the Songhai Centre, is now offering 3,000 fully funded agriculture scholarships for young Nigerians and applications are officially open!

This exciting opportunity is designed to empower youth, especially women, with the skills, tools, and support they need to succeed in modern agriculture and agribusiness.

What’s the Big Deal About This Mastercard Agriculture Scholarship?

At a time when many young people are facing job uncertainty, the Mastercard Foundation is stepping in with a bold solution: train thousands of Nigerian youths (aged 18–35) to become successful agro-entrepreneurs. And guess what? 70% of the slots are reserved for women!

These scholarships are part of a larger effort to tackle youth unemployment and food insecurity in Nigeria, while also creating the next generation of business-minded farmers and agricultural innovators.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

This is not just about attending a few classes. It’s a fully immersive and fully funded 3-month training programme. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Full tuition coverage
  • Free accommodation
  • Meals provided throughout the training
  • All training materials and farm kits
  • Certification upon completion
  • Business starter kits and mentorship
  • Access to market networks for your products

The programme will be held in Ebonyi, Owerri and Lagos where selected applicants will undergo hands-on training in crop production, animal husbandry, aquaculture, food processing, and more.

Why Is This Happening?

The Mastercard Foundation understands that young people have ideas, but often lack the resources or opportunities to bring them to life. This programme is designed to fill that gap.

“We’re not just training farmers. We’re building future business leaders in agriculture,” a Songhai representative said.

With Nigeria’s population growing and food demand rising, agriculture is becoming one of the most promising career paths and this scholarship helps you tap into it, debt-free.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen
  • Be aged 18–35 years
  • Be passionate about agriculture or agribusiness
  • Be willing to relocate to Ebonyi or Owerri for the full training
  • Not be in full-time employment or schooling

When and How to Apply

Applications are now open and will be processed on a rolling basis, so it’s best to apply early.

Whether you’re a fresh graduate, job seeker, or someone eager to start a meaningful journey in agribusiness, this scholarship could be your gateway to success.
