What the SBW Berlin Scholarship Covers
Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive financial package, including:
- Full tuition fee coverage
- Free furnished room in a shared student flat in Berlin
- Monthly cost-of-living stipend (€480 per month)
- Travel allowance to and from Germany (if required)
- Additional project funding or academic support grants, where necessary
Note: The first payment is only made after the recipient moves into the designated accommodation. Part-time work during the study period is generally not allowed.

Eligibility Criteria for the SBW Berlin Scholarship for Nigerians
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be between 18–30 years old
- Hold higher education entrance qualifications (WAEC/NECO + JAMB for undergraduates; a Bachelor’s degree for Master’s applicants)
- Have a strong academic record
- Demonstrate a low household income
- Be actively working in social or nonprofit, with proof from a registered organisation (NGO, foundation, community group)
- Intend to return to Nigeria after your studies or contribute to nonprofit work in Germany for at least 18 months
- Not already be receiving a fully funded scholarship elsewhere

- A letter of recommendation from a nonprofit or social organisation

- Valid passport

- Proof of university application (to a Berlin or Potsdam institution)
Applicants must apply separately to a university in Berlin or Potsdam. The SBW scholarship application is handled independently.

- The recommending organisation must email the letter in PDF format to: application@sbw.berlin
- Once reviewed and approved, SBW Berlin will send you the official scholarship application form.
- Fill out the form and submit all required documents as instructed.
