The Changemakers Innovation Challenge 2025 is a call to action for Africa’s brightest young innovators who are harnessing technology to drive meaningful social impact. Organised by the ACT Foundation, this annual competition celebrates and supports community non-profits, social enterprises, and youth-led initiatives across Africa that use digital tools and emerging technologies to address pressing social challenges.
From mobile health and farm automation to AI-powered solutions, data analytics, blockchain, renewable energy, and other transformative innovations — the Challenge seeks to spotlight and scale the most promising tech-driven interventions.
Grant funding will be awarded to the top four winners, alongside technical support such as software, hardware, and targeted capacity-building training, enabling them to expand their impact across diverse African communities.
What Makes the Changemakers Innovation Challenge Unique?

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be African citizens residing in any African country.
- Be youth-led initiatives with founders or team leads aged 18–25 years.
- Submit a technology-driven solution or project that demonstrates strong integration of digital tools.
- Address challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (evidence required).
- Have tested or implemented the solution with direct beneficiaries (with proof such as videos, pictures, or news releases).
- Not be past CIC awardees.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be judged on:
- Innovation & Creativity (30%) – Originality and uniqueness of the solution.
- Use of Technology (20%) – Effective integration of tech to drive change.
- Impact (20%) – Demonstrated social impact and reach.
- Scalability & Sustainability (15%) – Potential for long-term growth.
- Vision & Leadership (15%) – Clear leadership and purpose.

- Prepare Your Proposal: Clearly outline your innovation, its tech integration, and impact evidence.
- Submit Online: Complete the application in English via the official challenge portal between 4th–22nd August 2025.
