Are you a young leader aged 18 to 28 from a Commonwealth nation with a passion for peacebuilding? The CYPAN Country Representatives 2025 initiative offers an exciting, voluntary leadership role to mobilise youth across the Commonwealth in preventing violent extremism and fostering social cohesion.
The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) is the youth-focused arm of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Commonwealth Youth Programme. It aims to empower grassroots and policy-level youth advocates to implement peace initiatives at national, regional, and pan‑Commonwealth levels.

Role Overview
Each Country Representative acts as the focal point for peacebuilding in their nation, coordinating at least 12 initiatives over the two-year term. Duties include:
- Linking local youth efforts with Pan‑Commonwealth and regional CYPAN teams
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing national task forces
- Securing sponsorship and partnerships with civil society, government and the private sector
- Overseeing public communication, organising pre-conference events, and ensuring participation in key forums
- Submitting monthly progress updates and a comprehensive final report
Although voluntary and home-based, representatives are expected to dedicate around 48 hours each week to the role.
Who Should Apply?
Ideal candidates will:
- Be Commonwealth citizens aged 18–28
- Have at least two years’ experience in youth‑led development or peace initiatives
- Possess knowledge of peace and security, human rights, and Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) frameworks
- Understand UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security—or have participated in its implementation
- Demonstrate leadership, diplomacy, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in multicultural settings
- Be fluent in written and spoken English
Term & Commitment
- Term Length: Two years, with possibility of renewal if eligibility criteria are still met
- Time Commitment: Approximately 48 hours per week, wholly from home
- Compensation: The position is voluntary, though funding may be provided for specific project-related activities
