Undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the world can now apply for the 2026 World Bank Group (WBG) Pioneers Internship Program, a structured internship opportunity offering hands-on experience within one of the world’s leading development institutions.
The WBG Pioneers Internship provides students with practical exposure to global development work while allowing them to contribute to impactful projects that support economic growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable development worldwide.
About the WBG Pioneers Internship Program
The WBG Pioneers Internship Program is the World Bank Group’s flagship internship initiative designed to equip students with real-world experience across development and corporate support functions.
Interns work closely with professionals across the World Bank Group, gaining insight into how the institution designs and implements solutions across health, education, infrastructure, climate, finance, and private sector development.
Fields and Areas of Work
The program welcomes candidates with academic or professional interests in a wide range of disciplines, including:
- Economics and investment
- Portfolio and investment management
- Public health, education, nutrition, and population
- Social sciences (anthropology, sociology)
- Agriculture and environment
- Engineering and urban planning
- Natural resources management
- Energy, transport, and digital development
- Private sector development
- Corporate functions such as accounting, communications, HR, IT, and finance
Interns actively support ongoing projects, collaborate with global teams, and develop professional skills while contributing to the World Bank Group’s development mission.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Undergraduate Track: Final-year undergraduate students
- Postgraduate Track: Students currently pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD
- Applicants may have 0–6 years of professional experience
- Strong computing and technical skills are an added advantage
Internship Tracks
- Undergraduate Track (Bachelor’s degree students)
- Postgraduate Track (Master’s and PhD students)

- Statement of Interest
- Proof of enrolment or academic transcript
For undergraduate applicants, transcripts must clearly show final-year status.
For postgraduate applicants, transcripts must confirm enrolment in a Master’s or PhD programme.
