Moremi Initiative MILEAD Fellows Program 2026 for Young African Women

Applications are now open for the 2026 Moremi Initiative Leadership Empowerment and Development (MILEAD) Fellows Program, a prestigious leadership fellowship for exceptional young African women.

Hosted by the Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa (MILEAD), the program is a paradigm-shifting, long-term leadership development experience designed to identify, mentor, and equip Africa’s next generation of bold and visionary female leaders.

Full scholarships are available for selected fellows.

About the MILEAD Fellowship

The MILEAD Program is a transformational leadership initiative that empowers young African women with the skills, values, and networks needed to drive change across the continent.

The fellowship provides:

• World-class leadership training
• Practical tools for social impact
• Transformational personal development
• A lifelong pan-African support network
• Strategies for 21st-century leadership excellence

The program specifically seeks young women passionate about addressing urgent issues affecting women and girls in Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be an African woman aged 19–25
• Be living in Africa or in the Diaspora
• Demonstrate strong leadership potential
• Commit to completing all program activities
• Commit to implementing a community change project

Program Structure

1. Three-Week Residential Summer Institute (Ghana)

• Fully residential and intensive
• Mandatory attendance
• Immersive leadership training experience

2. One-Year Fellowship

Following the Summer Institute, fellows participate in:

• Online learning modules
• Mentorship sessions
• Community-based action projects

Fellows may continue working or studying full-time during the year-long fellowship, except during the Summer Institute.

Selection

• 25 outstanding young women will be selected
• Fellows will represent 25 African countries
