The McCain Institute Global Leaders Program (MGLP) 2026 is now accepting applications from emerging leaders across the world who are committed to advancing freedom, defending human rights, and creating opportunity in their communities.
The 12-month fellowship brings together mid- to senior-career professionals from diverse regions and sectors to engage in immersive leadership development, regional collaboration, and global networking. Participants are selected based on their leadership capacity, service orientation, and demonstrated commitment to positive change.
2026 Global Theme
Advancing Freedom, Defending Rights, Creating Opportunity
This theme guides the program’s regional and global focus areas, shaping the discussions, collaborations, and leadership engagements fellows will participate in throughout the year.
About the Global Leaders Program
Over the course of the program, selected Global Leaders will take part in both regional and global programming, designed to:
- Strengthen leadership skills and strategic thinking
- Connect fellows with a targeted peer group in their home region
- Build long-term relationships with a diverse global network of changemakers
- Enhance collaboration across sectors and borders
Programming includes in-person convenings, virtual sessions, and peer engagement opportunities tailored to regional and thematic priorities.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Mid- to senior-career professionals actively working on issues related to the program’s global or regional themes
- At least five years of professional experience
- Strong working proficiency in English
- Currently holding leadership roles or actively driving positive change within their communities
- Demonstrated commitment to service beyond personal or professional gain
There is no age limit and no minimum educational requirement. Individuals from all countries and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Fellowship Benefits
Selected participants will receive:
- Fully funded participation, including economy-class international travel, accommodation, and visa costs
- A stipend to cover incidental expenses during the program
- Access to a global network of leaders, experts, and alumni
- High-level leadership development and exposure to global policy and advocacy conversations
There is no participation fee beyond the time commitment required to fully engage in the program.
Program Timeline
- Duration: 12 months
- Program period: June 2026 – May 2027
- Virtual sessions are held via Zoom, typically at 9:00 AM Eastern Standard Time
- Travel locations and detailed schedules are shared with shortlisted candidates during later stages of the selection process
Participants are expected to engage fully throughout the fellowship year.
