Young professionals working in HIV prevention can now apply for the International AIDS Society (IAS) AIDS 2026 Prevention Ambassador Fellowship, a global opportunity designed to strengthen digital advocacy, expand professional networks, and amplify access to HIV prevention knowledge.
The fellowship supports individuals who are actively advancing HIV prevention awareness and access, while providing full support to attend AIDS 2026, the 26th International AIDS Conference, scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 26 to 31 July 2026.
About the AIDS 2026 Prevention Ambassador Fellowship
The Prevention Ambassador Fellowship is an initiative of the International AIDS Society (IAS), the worldโs largest association of HIV professionals. The fellowship focuses on empowering prevention advocates, content creators, and community leaders to translate the latest HIV science, policy, and activism into accessible digital content for diverse audiences.
Selected fellows will participate in pre-conference activities, attend AIDS 2026 in person, and contribute to the IAS โRethink. Rebuild. Rise.โ campaign, helping to broaden public understanding of HIV prevention strategies.
Fellowship Support and Benefits
Successful applicants will receive support to:
- Implement a digital HIV prevention content project ahead of AIDS 2026 (up to USD 500 in project support)
- Create and publish digital content during AIDS 2026, translating key prevention science and policy discussions (up to USD 500 in project support)
- Attend AIDS 2026 in person, with coverage for:
- International travel
- Accommodation
- Per diem
- Ground transportation
- Visa costs (if applicable)
- Connect with global researchers, policymakers, activists, and public health leaders
- Participate in networking and professional development activities throughout the conference

- Selection notification: March 2026
- Fellowship period: March 2026 โ 14 August 2026

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrated experience advancing knowledge of and access to HIV prevention, including PrEP, PEP, U=U, harm reduction, long-acting prevention, combination prevention, or prevention policy
- Proven track record of digital or media content creation on HIV prevention with a minimum of 5,000 total followers or subscribers across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X, podcasts, blogs, newsletters, or community radio with digital reach
- Commitment to ethical, evidence-based, non-stigmatising communication, aligned with IAS guidelines
- Proficiency in English (multilingual applicants are encouraged)
- Availability to participate in pre-event onboarding and attend the full AIDS 2026 conference dates
- Aged 18 years or older at the time of application
Priority Consideration
Priority will be given to applicants who:
- Represent or work closely with key and priority populations, including people living with HIV, men who have sex with men, transgender people, sex workers, people who inject drugs, adolescent girls and young women, migrants, and underserved communities
- Are based in low- and middle-income countries or create content for underserved audiences
- Demonstrate collaboration with community-led organisations, clinics, or advocacy coalitions

- Descriptions of two digital HIV prevention projects (one pre-AIDS 2026 and one during AIDS 2026), including:
- Target audiences
- Planned themes
- Platforms to be used

- CV with portfolio links to recent HIV prevention content and evidence of reach
- Letter of support (if employed) or letter of reference (if self-employed)
