The Schlumberger Foundation’s Faculty for the Future Fellowship offers a transformative opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral studies abroad, equipping you with the skills, experience, and networks to contribute meaningfully to your field.
The programme’s mission is to accelerate gender equality in STEM by empowering talented women to become leaders, educators, and change-makers in their home countries. Fellows are expected to return after their studies to take up academic, research, policy-making, or entrepreneurial roles that strengthen STEM capacity, foster innovation, and drive sustainable development within their regions.

Key Details
- Grant Amount:
- Up to USD $50,000 per year for a PhD
- Up to USD $40,000 per year for a Postdoctoral Fellowship
- Grant Renewal: Renewable until completion of studies, based on academic progress, supervisor recommendations, and a clear reintegration plan into the home country
- Level of Study: PhD and Postdoctoral research in STEM (Master’s degrees are not supported)
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a female citizen of a developing or emerging economy where women are underrepresented in STEM
- Applicants holding dual citizenship with a developed country are not eligible
- Preparing for or enrolled in a PhD or postdoctoral programme in a STEM discipline
- Already admitted, enrolled, or applied to a host university/research institute abroad
- Strong academic record with demonstrated excellence
- Commitment to return to the home country or region upon completion of studies
- Prior teaching experience and a clear plan to return to:
- Academic or research positions
- STEM-related entrepreneurship to address local or regional challenges
- Public sector roles contributing to evidence-based STEM policy, including gender representation
- Proven leadership skills, outreach experience, and efforts to inspire women and girls to pursue STEM

- Strength of academic record
- Quality of references provided
- Reputation of the host institution
- Demonstrated commitment to returning home after studies
- Dedication to teaching, STEM entrepreneurship, or policy-making
- Relevance of proposed research to the home country
- Active engagement in motivating girls and women to enter STEM
