AlgorithmWatch has officially opened applications for the Algorithmic Accountability Reporting Fellowship 2025 — a fully funded, highly competitive opportunity for journalists and researchers exploring the societal consequences of artificial intelligence and automated decision-making systems. Now in its fifth edition, this prestigious fellowship is dedicated to supporting critical voices that investigate algorithmic injustices and shape public understanding of how AI systems reinforce or challenge power dynamics.
Only six fellows will be selected for the 2025 cohort, making this a highly competitive opportunity for those committed to holding AI systems accountable through impactful, investigative storytelling.
Driven by the growing urgency for transparency in AI governance — particularly amid rapid advancements in generative AI and the increasing influence of major tech companies on public policy — the programme is designed to provide fellows with the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary to carry out deeply researched, high-impact journalism. Fellows will be equipped to challenge opaque systems, scrutinise technological power, and elevate public accountability in the digital age.
