Applications are now open for the 2026 World Energy Council Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Program, a globally recognised leadership platform for high-potential young professionals in the energy sector.
The Future Energy Leaders Program brings together a diverse, international network of emerging energy leaders committed to shaping the future of the global energy system. Through active engagement in the World Energy Council’s work, participants contribute to national, regional, and international energy dialogues while building the skills, experience, and networks needed to address the world’s most pressing energy transition and sustainability challenges.
Programme Objective
The core objective of the Global FEL Program is to strengthen participants’ knowledge, experience, and leadership skills within the global energy ecosystem.
What Participants Will Gain
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to:
- Contribute to the World Energy Council’s authoritative research, tools, and energy transition studies as experts or observers
- Design and lead practical projects—including webinars, events, and national or regional initiatives—through a flexible and interactive programme structure
- Participate in select World Energy Council global, regional, and national events, including:
- World Energy Congress
- World Energy Week
- Build a strong international professional network of energy leaders and decision-makers
- Shape the vision of future energy systems and help bridge the generational gap in energy leadership

Who Should Apply?
The programme is ideal for ambitious young energy professionals who are ready to commit to a global leadership journey and contribute actively to the World Energy Council’s work.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrate a strong interest and proven track record in the energy sector (or energy-plus fields), with clear achievements indicating leadership potential
- Have 3–5 years of junior management experience in an energy-related field
- Be highly motivated to engage with the World Energy Council and commit to active participation in the Global FEL community for 1–3 years
- Possess an advanced level of English
- Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application
- Be available for a minimum of 15 days of programme engagement per year (up to 20 days in World Energy Congress years)
- Obtain validation and support from their employer
Each year, approximately 35 new participants are onboarded into the Global FEL Program.
