Applications are now open for the 2026 MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy, a fully funded, year-long training programme designed to equip the next generation of African film and television professionals with industry-ready skills.
The MultiChoice Talent Factory is the MultiChoice Group’s flagship creative development initiative, focused on educating emerging African storytellers and upskilling existing filmmakers to improve the quality and global competitiveness of African film and TV productions.
About the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy
The MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy offers a 12-month intensive filmmaking programme that combines classroom learning with hands-on, real-world production experience. Since its launch, the programme has trained over 480 graduates who are now active across Africa’s film and television industry.
For the 2026 intake, applications are open across the South African, Southern African, West African, and East African Academies, with training centres located in:
- Nigeria
- Kenya
- Zambia
- South Africa
The academies collectively serve participants from 14 African countries, providing practical training, professional mentorship, and access to industry networks.
Programme Structure & Training Areas
The one-year programme covers core and specialised filmmaking disciplines, including:
- Scriptwriting
- Cinematography
- Directing
- Production management
- Editing and post-production
- Sound and visual storytelling
Training is delivered by active industry professionals, ensuring students gain current, market-relevant skills.
Upon successful completion, participants (excluding South Africa) receive a university-accredited certificate from partner institutions:
- Pan-Atlantic University (Nigeria)
- Kenyatta University (Kenya)
- University of Zambia (Zambia)

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold an academic qualification in film, television, media, drama, or a related field
- Have 1–2 years of demonstrable industry experience
- Be passionate about building a career in film and television production
- Be eligible to attend the academy in their selected region
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) – maximum of 2 pages
- Personal motivation letter (maximum 500 words) explaining why you should be selected
- Copy of passport and national ID (certified for South Africa applicants)
- Certified copy of matric certificate
- Certified copy of academic transcripts or a tertiary qualification certificate
- Proof of residential address
- Verified bank details (South Africa applicants only)
